BACKGROUND/
Ofsted-graded 3 in 2006, and again in 2010, Weymouth College was told it ‘requires improvement’. Recruitment had suffered a three year decline and the Sixth Form provision had been controversially closed. Relationships with the local business community were insubstantial and remote.

BRIEF/
Design and implement a rebrand strategy for the college that reverses the decline in student applications and repositions the college as a first choice institution with stakeholder groups locally and regionally.

KEY OUTPUTS INCLUDED/

  • rebrand and communications strategy
  • new reception, student services and business suite
  • new Costa Coffee and refectory refurbishment
  • new Sixth Form social/study space, offices and classrooms
  • wayfinding scheme, signage and information graphics.

OUTCOMES/

  • 130 enrolments for the first year of new Sixth Form
  • cross college recruitment up by 20% in 2013-14
  • Sixth Form re-opened. Enrolled 136 AS students in year 1
